The Office (U.S.) is the American cousin of the popular British television program of the same name. (In the past fifteen years there have been a number of highly popular British programs that successfully have crossed the pond with The Office Dvd heading the list in many ways.)
Original episodes of The Office currently are being broadcast on NBC on Thursday nights. Additionally, The Office has also started showing up in syndication on the TBS television network as well. Finally, The Office box set DVDs are now available for sale as well.
The Office Dvds dryly follows the humorous and sometimes beyond bizarre exploits of the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company. From day one, as is illustrated aptly on the initial The Office DVD complete box set, the most positive comment that can be made about the office at The Office is that it is dysfunctional ... very dysfunctional.
As can be seen in completely enjoyable episode after episode on The Office Seasons, the reason the branch office is such a complete albeit funny mess is because of the bizarre management style of the manager, Michael Scott played by a man who must be considered a comic genius, Steve Carell. Michael views himself as the most idyllic manager to ever hit the business scene.
The remaining staff members at Dunder-Mifflin (Scranton Branch) include some very capable employees that alternately cover for and bear with Michael's behavior. Additionally, as can also be readily seen on one or another The Office box set DVD collection, the branch also is populated with other incompentent dimwits, including Dwight Shrute expertly played by Rainn Wilson.
In viewing the complete assortment of episodes contained in The Office box set, you will immediately notice that this show is not “filmed before a live audience.” One of the interesting aspects of The Office DVD box set is that the shows have no laugh track. Indeed, The Office is filmed from the vantage point of a documentary film maker who has as a subject matter this particular office and its staff. This production decision really does add a unique presentation to The Office box set.
Finally, at this point in time, The Office remains one of the most critically acclaimed, popular and award winning of any television series being broadcast today. In fact, there appears to be no end in sight for the success of this truly highly regarded television program.
