Smallville is an action and adventure television show that follows the life and times of the young Clark Kent (Superman) in the fictional town of Smallville, Kansas. Having recently begun its ninth season of original programming on the CW television network, the Smallville box set Dvd collection also is available for sale. The show features Tom Welling as Clark Kent.
During the first few years of the show ... as can be seen on the Smallville DVD box set collection ... the focus was on Clark Kent as a high school student. More recently, as is also presented within the Smallville dvd box set, the show has started to take on more adult scenes and settings. Some of the characters have now gone off to college. In addition, in the last couple of seasons, the show has started to introduce more of the DC comic book superheroes and villains. (Keep in mind that Superman is a DC comic book creation.)
The show really does attempt to focus not only on the action elements of life when one is Clark Kent and Superman. Rather, Smallville (as is evident in any Smallville DVDs ) also pays close attention to the personal aspects of the young Clark Kent.
For a person who is a fan of Smallville, or for a person who has only recently discovered this well done television series, the Smallville DVD box set is a good investment, a welcome addition to any at-home media library. Smallville represents the kind of show that people like to revisit time and time again. On some level, beyond the adventuresome aspect of the individual shows, there are also quality themes that are developed through these shows as well that really have proven to be timeless.
In recent times, Smallville has spawned a pilot television program called Aquaman. The pilot did not get picked up, however. In addition to the original broadcasts of the series and the Smallville box set, the show has resulted in the creation of a series of young adult novels, a bi-monthly comic bood (from DC) as well as show related soundtracks.
When the show debuted originally on the WB network (which later merged with UPN to form the CW network) it was the highest rated debut on that television network. The show has maintained a strong following and the Smallville box set does continue to sell briskly. As has been noted previously, the show is entering into its ninth season and appears to be headed for an even longer run.
