The program currently is broadcasting original shows although the series will air its finale in May 2009. Scrubs DVDs set are also available on the market, including an up to date Scrubs dvd set complete series. As can be seen in the Scrubs complete DVD set and in the original shows airing at the present time, Scrubs is set at a teaching hospital known as Sacred Heart. The stories in the show (in the current episodes being aired and in the Scrubs box set) are told from the point of view of the program's lead character, Dr. John Michael “JD” Dorian. JD is played to perfection by Zach Braff. In addition to being the leading character in the show, JD also narrates the episodes as well. By and large the course of any particular episode contained in the Scrubs DVD set is dedicated to humor and humorous situations. The writers have striven to strike a good balance between comedy and drama in the scripts associated with the episodes. Unlike most comedies on the air today – and historically – Scrubs utilizes only one camera in filming rather than the traditional three. This lends a more focused point of view to the show – and works to underscore that the episodes are being narrated by one of the characters in the case. It does provide a very unique perspective and presentation for the show as a whole. Finally, as can be seen in the Scrubs complete series of DVDs now available, guest stars regularly populate the show – including leading film actors that do not normally make appearances on television shows. The find writing of the show, the solid direction and the talent of the regular cast are said to be the reasons why big name film stars actually strongly desire to make guest appearances on Scrubs. Indeed, the finale is expected to bring around a few big name film stars to make guest appearance in the last installment of Scrubs.
