Grey's Anatomy remains one of the most popular and critically acclaimed programs on television today. Not only are original episodes of the series running on the ABC television network but Grey's Anatomy is also in syndication as well. Moreover, the Grey's Anatomy seasons DVD set is in high demand in the United States and around the world. Grey's Anatomy actually entered the ABC lineup mid-season in 2005, immediately following the extremely popular and highly rated Desperate Housewives. The lead in by Desperate Housewives certainly gave Grey's Anatomy a helpful boost when it first went on the air; however, in no time at all, Grey's Anatomy became extremely popularly, highly rated in its own right and award winning. As can be seen on original episodes being aired now as well as on any Grey's Anatomy DVD, the show essentially follows the life of a woman named Dr. Meredith Grey. Dr. Grey works at Seattle Grace Hospital, in Seattle, Washington. While the series does tell its tales essentially from the point of view from Dr. Grey, the other main characters have garnered attention and standing to a very significant degree in their own right. Indeed, even during the airing of the earlier episodes of the program now contained in the Grey's Anatomy box set, individual characters (and actors) began gaining their own very strong following. Many cast members really became “hits” with the public over night, as they say. As a medical drama, the writers of Grey's Anatomy take great pains (so to speak) to ensure that medical aspects of the show are as precise and correct as possible. The medical aspects of the show – as is illustrated in episode after episode now contained on the Grey's Anatomy box set and being aired originally – really to generate a great deal of drama. However, also from day one – as is easy to see from the Grey's Anatomy DVD collection – the personal lives and stories of the characters on the show are extremely compelling. (On a number of different levels, it is the personal lives of the individual characters as developed in Grey's Anatomy seasons and expanded upon today) that have developed such a strong, large and loyal following for the show. No matter what a viewer of Grey's Anatomy might do his or her self for a living, they can identify with the personal struggles of the characters as they work to balance challenging professional lives against the dramas of day to day living in the 21st century.
