The series now airs in syndication in many markets in the United States and in some other countries around the world as well. The show was created and produced following the successful release of feature film of the same name. Additionally, there is now a complete Buffy the Vampire Slayer complete box set of DVDs available on the market today as well. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer series tells the story of a young woman named Buffy Summers. In the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, Buffy herself (who is played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) is the latest in what has become a rather long line of women who are known as Slayers. By being a Slayer, the fate of these young women is to partake in battle against vampires, demons and other evil beings. In her pursuits to engage and defeat these evil forces, Buffy has the aid and assistance of a Watcher. The Watcher trains and guides Buffy in her important work. Buffy is also surrounded and supported by a group of loyal friends. (These friends have become known as the “Scooby Gang” in the episodes which now can be found on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVD box set collection.) In addition to being exciting, the show also was considered to be very humorous as well. The writers and cast deftly managed to blend exiting plot and story lines with a considerable amount of good natured humor as well. Throughout the lifetime of the show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer Box Set received solid ratings and very good reviews. Indeed, when TV Guide compiled a list of the 50 greatest television shows of all time, Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons came in at number 41. Additionally, Time magazine included Buffy the Vampire Slayer on its own list of the 100 greatest television shows of all time. In addition to the briskly selling Buffy the Vampire Slayer dvd box set complete collection, the program also spawned one successful spin off, a program with a rather similar premise entitled Angel. Beyond this, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer franchise now also includes comic books, novels and video games.
