Sadly for Boston Legal fans, the series finale aired recently on ABC. The critically acclaimed television program was not renewed for another season despite a very loyal fan base and critical acclaim. However, fans of this legal comedy-drama need not fear. The Boston Legal DVD box set is available. The show was a spin-off from a very popular and highly regarded David E. Kelley series called The Practice. Indeed, some of the characters that were seen in The Practice migrated to the set of Boston Legal DVD. Of course, a major difference between the two programs was that while there was a great deal of compelling drama in Boston Legal, the program also had a tremendous amount of quality comedy. The program centered its attention on the exploits of the attorneys at the firm of Crane, Poole and Schmidt – Crane being played by iconic veteran actor William Shatner and Schmidt being played by beloved actress Candace Bergen. These two performers represented the tip of the iceberg of an extremely talented and well known cast that also included James Spader and many others. As can be seen throughout the Boston Legal DVD box set, the show was never afraid to take on complex and even controversial issues head-on. In viewing one Boston Legal DVD to the next you would be hard pressed finding even a single, solitary episode in which a red hot issue is not dealt with directly – and always with some deft and yet somehow appropriate humor. Indeed, Boston Legal really does top the list when it comes to programs the effectively blend comedy and drama. Beyond high marks for acting, the writers of the show really have been considered incomparable on many different levels. Perhaps their most significant accomplishment was to take even seemingly absurd situations and render them believable, humorous, meaningful and touching all at the same time. Obviously, this is no small accomplishment to say the least. From Ally McBeal to Private Practice to Boston Legal DVD there has always been a hot, law based David E. Kelley television program on the air. The present time represents the first juncture in a long, long time that there is not a lively and entertaining Kelley offering on the air. When all is said and done – and the show is now done as far as new episodes are concerned – the Boston Legal DVD box set is a must have addition to a DVD library.
